1. Conductor:
Material: Plain annealed copper.
- Type: Stranded/Flexible. This is the most critical feature. The conductor is made up of many thin copper wires twisted together (e.g., 7 strands for 2.5mm²), making it far more pliable than the solid conductor of a BV cable.

Primary Applications
Due to its flexibility, BVR is used in fixed wiring installations where easier handling, pulling through conduits with bends, or dressing in tight spaces is required.

- Ideal for pulling through long conduits with multiple bends where a solid conductor (BV) would be difficult to maneuver.
- Excellent for distribution boards (DBs) and control panels where wires need to be neatly bent and routed tightly to terminals.
2. Household & Commercial Wiring:
- Used for the same final circuits as BV (lighting, sockets).
- Often preferred by electricians for its ease of installation, especially in retrofit situations.
3. Equipment and Appliance Internal Wiring:
- Can be used for fixed internal connections within large appliances, control cabinets, or machinery where some vibration or movement is present, and flexibility is needed.
4. Installation Method:
- Like BV, it must be installed within a protected wiring system: conduits, trunking, or under plaster/capping.
- Its flexibility makes termination slightly easier, but care must be taken to properly sleeve all strands when connecting to terminals (often using ferrules).
