Product Detail

Blue RJ45 Colored Boot RJ45 Ethernet Network Cable Strain Relief Boots

Specification

  • Material: Made of flexible, durable plastic, silicone, or PVC rubber.

  • Color: Solid blue, conforming to the ANSI/TIA-606-C labeling standard for network terminations. Blue is the designated color for standard horizontal/work area cabling, such as connections to workstations or general network devices.

  • Compatibility: Designed as a universal fit for most standard 8P8C (RJ45) plugs. It slides over the cable and clicks into place behind the connector's locking tab.

  • Design: Features a flexible, flared cable entry to cushion the cable and prevent sharp bends. The boot extends slightly past the connector's tab to protect it from accidental snags.

  • Mounting: It is a separate, passive component that is installed on the cable before the RJ45 plug is crimped on. It cannot be added after termination.

Advantage

  • Strain Relief: The primary function. It absorbs tension and prevents sharp bends directly at the crimp point, which is the most vulnerable part of the cable. This significantly reduces wire breakage and connector failure.

  • Color Coding & Organization: The blue color provides instant visual identification of the cable's purpose, following industry standards. This makes patch panel management, troubleshooting, and moves/adds/changes faster and more accurate in complex installations.

  • Tab Protection: Helps prevent the fragile plastic locking tab on the RJ45 connector from snapping off if the cable is snagged or stepped on, thereby maintaining a secure connection in the port.

  • Professional Appearance: Gives a finished, professional look to custom-made or commercial patch cables, differentiating them from basic, bootless cables.

Application

  • Structured Cabling Systems: Used on horizontal patch cables running from the patch panel to the network switch, and on work area cables from the wall outlet to the end device. The blue color instantly identifies this standard network connection.

  • Data Center & Server Room Management: Critical for organizing high-density patch panels. A blue-booted cable clearly denotes a standard Ethernet link, as opposed to other colors used for VoIP (e.g., silver), DMZ (e.g., orange), or WAN connections.

  • Custom Cable Assembly: Used by network technicians when building custom-length patch cords on-site, ensuring they meet both mechanical strain relief and color-coding standards.

  • Preventing Downtime: In any environment with frequent cable handling (e.g., offices, labs), using booted connectors reduces physical failures, improving network reliability.

Important Note: While blue is the industry standard for general network connections, other colors are used for different functions (e.g., green for cross-connections, yellow for WAN/ISP, red for critical circuits). The boot itself does not affect the electrical performance of the cable; that is determined by the connector and cable quality.
